The Rays opened the season with a 4-3 win over the Braves in Minors of Weston Area Little League Baseball. Nick Maykut, Richard Grund and Ben Sachs provided solid pitching. Max Ramer, Eric Juergens, Dylan Lyon and Danny Cooke hit with power. Jeremy Jackson excelled defensively, and Chris Pena, Cooke and Ramer did a good job covering third base.

South Dade's baseball team won its sixth game of the year Monday, defeating host Coral Shores 14-4. Chris Priestly (2-0) got the win for the Bulldogs (6-0). Jason Webb hit a home run and scored three runs while Brendan Roush and Demetrius Moorer each scored three runs.
